Salary £22,000 per annum, pro rata

Are you passionate about working with young children and helping them learn and grow through play? We’re looking for a caring, enthusiastic Level 2 Childcare Practitioner to join our team at our new nursery in London.

📌 Job Summary

You will support the daily care and learning of children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and our organisation’s values and policies. Working closely with your team, you will help create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for every child.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

    • Act as a Key Person for designated children, supporting their development and wellbeing
    • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality learning experiences through play
    • Support daily routines and contribute to a well-organised and child-led environment
    • Provide snacks and refreshments, ensuring hygiene and safety standards are maintained
    • Observe children, complete assessments, and contribute to learning journals
    • Encourage child participation and involve them in planning activities
    • Promote inclusive practice and celebrate diversity in all activities
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared goals
    • Build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues
    • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a high standard of care at all times
    • Follow all nursery policies and procedures including safeguarding and health & safety
    • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and maintain your personal development plan

🧩 Person Specification

Essential

    • Minimum Level 2 NVQ in Childcare (or equivalent)
    • Current (within 1 year) Safeguarding training
    • Paediatric First Aid certificate
    • Experience in a play-based learning environment
    • Understanding of child development and the EYFS
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills
    • Competence in using IT to support administrative tasks
    • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
    • Ability to plan, observe, and assess children’s learning
    • Calm, reliable, and flexible with sound judgement

Desirable

    • Food Hygiene Certificate
    • Fluency in a second or community language
